Mayor Harold Washington Speaks

Chicago’s first Black Mayor, Harold Washington, sets the stage for a second term of office that he was never able to complete. His effective first term had a unifying impact on a group of dedicated public servants at this historical event (South Shore Cultural Center) on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s Day (January 15, 1987) ten months before his untimely death.
